Since we opened our doors in 1998, fans have asked us to open locations in their hometowns. After years of planning, we are ready to help a few select people open their own. With benefits ranging from monetary to yummy, franchise documents are simmering right now.
What expertise is required?
A drive for excellence, good moral character, mental and physical stamina, great communication skills, fiscal responsibility and passion for our food and culture.
How much will it cost?
Though financial capacity and liquidity are essential, Pangea is artisan, not cookie cutter. We don’t require you to move walls, custom-build your storefront, or buy brand-new equipment for the kitchen. Each location is an integral and sustainable reflection of its community. From adorning walls with local artist’s work to purchasing used equipment or modifying a closed restaurant, there are ways to reduce startup costs without sacrificing quality.
Shhh, our secret to success is:
By merging artisan, chef-made food with QSR (quick service restaurant) structure, operating your own Pangea is a simple and delicious experience. After the soups and sauces have been made, it’s as easy as assembling sandwiches. We are zealous about systems. While there are many “right” ways to do things, after eleven years of trial and error, there is only one “Pangea way”. Meticulous handbooks and checklists prevent details from falling through the cracks.
How much work is involved?
Take whatever you imagine it will be and double that. Success is not built by throwing money at problems but through careful planning, hard work and discipline; even when you are not in the mood. We require all franchisees to understand every position in the business. Training includes: prep, line work, register, customer service, hiring, training, espresso, leadership, ordering, catering, health and safety, problem solving, equipment, and more. No, you won’t have to do it all alone. The tools we provide will give you the confidence to make excellent decisions and lead by experience.
Food for thought.
It’s said that franchising is being in business for yourself, but not by yourself. We take our responsibility seriously. Unlike other franchisors, we do not seek to open as many locations as possible but instead pledge all of our expertise and efforts to one location at a time.
